Letterform Playing Cards

This project asks students to analyze a letterform in a specific font, using it to create 50 initial designs that are narrowed down to 4 that will be used as suits for a deck of playing cards. Illustration is allowed for face cards, but each suit must be comprised of the letterform, a circle, and a line. Students become familiar with the parts of the letter and have to pay close attention to the design of the positive and negative space surrounding that letter.
